Just loved this recent
photo essay about Orwell and the island of Jura.
In 1971 with three friends, I backpacked around the coast of Jura. Sleeping in caves that were more often the refuge of deer, and walking on paths that were carved out of the gorse by deer, it took us 5 days to circumnavigate the island, and in that whole time we didn't see another human soul, not even a footprint.
